„The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong. “

Hallo zusammen ^_^

1. „The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong. “

The quotation “The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong” from Mahatma Gandhi can be used in every life situation. If there are some children arguing or some countries in war.

But what does forgiveness mean? It doesn’t mean just to forget what happened, it means to get along with it and not to be angry anymore. But at the end this is the difficulty, because when something really bad happened than you don’t want to forgive the person who did it. You want, of course, revenge. But because of that kind of thinking there will never be peace anywhere. And there it is, even if you get your revenge you won’t be satisfied. And to be honestly someone not to forgive is always the easier way than to forgive. And that’s why Gandhi said that the weak can never forgive.

He also said that forgiveness was the attribute of the strong. Which means when you’re strong you are able to forgive someone. In some eastern countries still exists the punishment to death but when the family of the victim forgive the murder he won’t be killed. I think for the families is that kind of forgiveness very difficult. As an example in India where so many women were raped and sometimes killed very cruel. The people who can forgive that kind of cruel deeds must be very strong. Because it means there won’t be any revenge.

On the other side it can also mean the conflict between India and Great Britannia. During the time when India was a British colony there existed so much racism and hate against the Indian citizen and also against Gandhi who leaded finally India to a free country. And he did it in a very calmly way and never took revenge by giving the same hate and racism back.

I think Ghandi realised that hate just produces hate. And to forgive someone can produce something positive. If the world was a bit fuller of strong people, the world would be so much better and closer to peace.
